Every time I favourite something, I always get reminded to make a comment. It has just occurred to me that a reason that I have not much to say is that a lot of the art is only creative in achieving an effective appearance, it is bound by rules, conforms to what people already know. Art like this has much more interesting value. Like others I can only imagine interpretations for it. It seems to me to symbolise an end to the pursuit of happiness. The Earthly realisation that happiness comes from the acceptance that you will not have lasting bliss, that you will one day die. To be happy with what is reality. To find someone to share the experience with is infinitely more rewarding than to chase idolatry dreams that won't come true, will never be fulfilling, to be special when you already are, along with everyone else. There was a motto at a Buddhist temple I visited in Thailand that "Calmness is happiness". And I think this is what I take from this picture. I don't see it as sad, I see it as a celebration of the finite, the precious (not to sound too much like Gollum), they are at rest.

Thank you for making me think.

I love what you said "I don't see it as sad, I see it as a celebration of the finite, the precious, they are at rest."
I don't think myself I had some clear interpretation of it other than... LOVE. But I also thought of the calmness, the weightlessness.
