the "head" is supposed to be a large appendix biting at the past (with the back teeth)
I know it looks like a bug or something, but that is purely coincidental, although I will do a few bug-like humanoid creatures

:D this evolved quite a lot from the traditional drawing I did
it wasn't exactly planned, I went with the flow, made adjustments as they came, and ended up here
if I get the time to make a red version I will let you know :)

Before fėreading the description I saw the image as the giant bug head and I found it a great image.
There is something of Kafka (impossible to avoid when we talk about being half human and half bug) with the despair and shame of the condition of being a like that.
The "interpretation" of your description, apart being the right one, is great also.
