"WHY DID YOU DO THAT!?"

"YEAH WE WERE! UNTIL I LOST BODILY FLUIDS!"

I love the unusual choice of focus - its refreshing, but in an understated way - nice:D

Is the blur on the vase artificial? It seems rather strange that the vase is so blurred yet i can make up the texture on the background.
I dont understand the way you took the shot, cutting half of the flower but an artist's mind cant be always understood.

the blur is not artificial - I took the photo and just modified the levels (auto) in photoshop so no photo manipulation
actually I asked myself the same question when I first looked at the photo but I have no idea how that happened
it's not my camera so I'll have to ask a friend to let me try some DOF tests and see what the hell happened
I cropped it like that because... well... aaaahhh... my hand slipped and... oops :D
didn't really like the background on that side (not uniform and kinda ruined the photo - I was at a friend's birthday and was just playing around with the camera out of pure boredom)

Beautiful work!!! ))))

I found out why the background looks sharper than the vase - the lens creates some sharp bokeh
this image [link] was made with the same lens - Minolta(?) 50mm f1.7 on a Sony camera and you can see the artificial sharpness introduced

so on some details from the background the lens introduces sharp shapes created by the bokeh, details that were present on the curtain behind in my photo
:iconblackat-k:
How odd. Guess that's what you get from using a silly camera like that. No offence :P

"Its not the size of the man in a fight, but the size of the fight in a man."
:iconnegativefeedback:
it's all because of the lens, not the camera
the quality of bokeh with cheap 50mm lenses isn't usually too good
and I think this particular lens is a rather old model from Minolta
:)
:iconblackat-k:
Sorry i meant lenses. I was thinking of Minolta and automatically thought cameras.
I dont know if this problem is to be blamed on the age of the lenses. This is a weird effect so maybe the quality of the lenses was bad to begin with.
You should take more pictures with it, if possible. See how they come out.
